Announcing Interim Executive Director
Karen Geer
Karen started at the YWCA as the Interim Executive Director on Wednesday, September 29. Karen comes to us with more than 30 years of experience working with non-profit and for-profit organizations. Karen is a versatile executive, educator, trained musician, and lawyer – with a track record of success in increasing earned and unearned revenues, implementing extensive cost-savings strategies; garnering significant media attention; and building a loyal community of stakeholders.
Karen has served as Executive Director for several non-profit organizations and is a consultant for VISION EMERGING, a company which provides expertise on non-profit leadership transitions and mergers. Prior to being a non-profit leader, Karen was a lawyer and practiced in the areas of criminal, environmental and toxic tort law. Karen is also the proud Mother of Molly Tian Jiao Friedman, a student at Smith College.
